Development Manager - Product

About the Role

As a Development Manager, you will lead a team of software engineers to deliver scalable, secure, and high-performance solutions. You’ll be responsible for technical execution, team development, and cross-functional collaboration. A strong foundation in software engineering is essential, and familiarity with AI/ML technologies is a significant plus.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers across the full development lifecycle.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and other stakeholders to define technical requirements and delivery timelines.
• Architect and review scalable, maintainable, and secure codebases.
• Drive adoption of modern engineering practices including CI/CD, automated testing, and cloud-native development.
• Ensure high code quality through code reviews, design reviews, and technical mentorship.
• Stay current with emerging technologies, especially in AI/ML, and assess their applicability to CLEAR®’s products.
• Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Demonstrate a strong affinity towards hands-on coding, owning the most critical and performance-sensitive parts of the system. Maintain deep familiarity with the codebase and actively contribute to key moments — setting up a high technical bar for the team.
• Stay informed and influential in all architectural decisions to ensure long-term scalability and maintainability of the platform.

Required Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
• Proven experience with modern programming languages such as Java, Python, Go, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
• Strong understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and microservices architecture.
• Experience with DevOps practices, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and deliver complex projects on time.

Preferred Qualifications

• Exposure to or hands-on experience with AI/ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face).
• Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., identity, security, fintech, or healthcare).
• Familiarity with data privacy, compliance, and secure coding practices.
• Agile/Scrum certification or experience leading Agile teams.
